Darcy Mahan teaches yoga and meditation as a means of living in alignment with our intentions. Often, our intention in practicing yoga or meditation comes down to a desire to feel as good as possible, physically and mentally, in this exact moment–not chasing some sort of perfect ideal but rather learning through awareness to foster acceptance of the here and now. We all face challenges and change, and we never know when the storms will come. When these storms eventually arrive (because, spoiler alert, they will come), Darcy strives to provide students with an unshakable belief in themselves and a way to tap into that calm and peace that resides inside all of us–even the busiest, most harried among us.
After working in publishing as a book editor, Darcy came to yoga because she longed for a deeper connection: to her body (achy from sitting hunched over manuscripts for hours on end), to her mind (constantly overwhelmed by stress in a changing workplace), and to the world around her. This is when her occasional yoga and meditation practice turned into a daily lifeline to calm. In discovering Bikram yoga (a very breath-centered practice that teaches on to find comfort amidst the discomfort), Darcy was finally able to grasp the benefits of mindful movement and meditation, and this spurred her to spend the next few years studying other forms of yoga and meditation as well.
Darcy believes that sharing yoga and meditation is her life’s purpose and that both of these practices can be accessible to anyone and everyone. Whatever your intentions, Darcy can help you apply this ancient wisdom to modern life.
